Common Ringed Plover

The Common Ringed Plover (Afrikaans name Ringnekkiewiet) is a Paleartic summer visitor to our shores. We saw them at the West Coast National Park

It prefers inland wetlands and coastal shores where it feeds mainly on small marine prey darting forward to grab the prey from the surface.

The juveniles have not yet got a complete neck ring
