Zebra Calf Rescue

While on a trip to Kruger National park, we were driving along this road when we heard gunshots and saw zebra and buffalo galloping off. We stopped and pulled over to the side to investigate.

The rangers had been shooting into the air to move the adult zebra and buffalo off in case they got aggressive and then we saw the little zebra calf lying stuck in the mud of the waterhole and unable to get itself free.

The rangers then set about gathering logs to set down on the mud so that they could reach the zebra calf to rescue it. After a few attempts they were eventually successful in getting the zebra calf free.

We all gave a big sigh of relief and were so thankful for the care and the dedication of the rangers in freeing and rescuing the zebra calf.

Here is the video of this rescue.
